Yukon man sentenced in Innisfail supportive living assault

Mar 20, 2024 | 1:32 PM

A man from the Yukon has been given a suspended sentence and 12 months of probation following an assault at an Innisfail designated supportive living facility last year.

Kale Michon, 22, a resident of Dawson City, Yukon, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on March 19, 2024, after pleading guilty on counts of assault and mischief-damage over $5000. A charge of break and enter was withdrawn.

The suspended sentence means Michon will have a criminal record but not be incarcerated. His probationary period following his sentencing means Michon must abide by certain conditions until the probationary period has concluded.

RCMP say it was just before 4 a.m. on Dec. 10, 2023 when they responded to a report of a break and enter at Sunset Manor supportive living facility.

A male suspect was believed to have broken in by shattering the front glass door. Once inside, the male suspect assaulted a nurse and caused significant damages to the facility, including destroying furniture, electronics and Christmas decorations.

When police arrived, they found the suspect and arrested him, still inside the facility.
