Monarch Winter Village returns to Penhold for sophomore year

Oct 27, 2026 | 9:33 PM

The Monarch Winter Village is returning to Penhold for a second year.

This time, organizers promise even more lights, decorations, and opportunities for businesses and groups to be part of the magic.

The village at the Penhold RV Park began in 2025 thanks to Monarch Earthworks, as a gift to the community.

“There’s something really special about the sense of community in Penhold. People look out for each other and come together to make this a great place to live,” said Drew Iwanozcko, owner of Monarch Earthworks.

“The Winter Village is our way of giving back and building community spirit during the holidays. It’s important to me that everyone can enjoy the lights and make memories with their families, without cost being a barrier.”

The village features more than 10 kilometres of lights.

“The generosity Drew continues to show our community is truly remarkable,” said Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau.

“The Monarch Winter Village is a wonderful gift that brings people together and makes the holiday season a little brighter for everyone. I encourage residents and visitors alike to come experience the lights and enjoy this special Penhold tradition.”

The Monarch Winter Village will officially light up Friday, Nov. 20, as part of Penhold’s Community Christmas celebration and will remain free to enjoy throughout the holiday season

Businesses and community groups interested in participating are encouraged to confirm their involvement by November 6. For more information, contact Drew Iwanozcko at 403-357-6705 or drew@monarchearthworks.ca.
