Red Deer home sales rise last month but still lower year over year

Red Deer home sales increased last month over April but are still behind sales numbers seen in the same month last year.

According to the latest Market Update from Central Alberta Realtors Association, there were 218 units sold in Red Deer in May, up from 180 units sold in April, but lower than 243 units sold in May 2022.

Year-to-Date numbers show 741 units sold in Red Deer so far this year, compared to 987 units sold during the first five months of 2022.

Meantime, the average sale price in Red Deer last month was $328,656, down from $360,819 in April.

The average number of days to sell a home in Red Deer last month was 46, up from 42 days in April.

For the entire central Alberta market, there were 558 units sold in May, up from 477 units sold in April, but down from 679 units sold in May 2022.

Year-to-Date numbers show 1,949 units sold throughout the central Alberta region so far this year, down from 2,822 units sold during the first five months of last year.

Meantime, the average sale price throughout central Alberta last month was $352,265, down from $355,219 in April.

The average number of days to sell a home in central Alberta last month was 49 days, down from 56 days in April.
