Lacombe man sentenced in head-on collision near Sylvan Lake
A Lacombe man charged in a head-on collision near Sylvan Lake last year has been sentenced to a one-year license suspension, one year of probation and ordered to pay fines totaling $1,500 by Feb. 29, 2024.
Cameron Elias Griffiths, 24, was sentenced following his trial in Red Deer Court of Justice on June 12, 2023. He was convicted on counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and obstructing a peace officer.
It was on April 22, 2022 at 10:17 p.m., when Sylvan Lake RCMP received a complaint of a collision on Highway 11 and Range Road 20.
Mounties say their investigation revealed that a white Ford F150 drove into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a blue Jeep Wrangler. Police say the driver of the F150 sustained minor injuries, while the four occupants of the Jeep were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
