The Jungle Farm helping the community plant, grow and eat healthy food
After the past few years of COVID and hail disruptions, officials with The Jungle Farm near Innisfail are thrilled to be welcoming back guests, including individuals, families, groups and school classes.
The Jungle Farm’s spring schedule is said to be nearly full with children who will learn about growing nutritious food, and their classroom teachers who want to share these important lessons with them.
One of the priorities at The Jungle Farm is providing the opportunity for children of all ages to explore a real working produce farm, to better understand how healthy food is grown, and to enjoy some fresh air in the great outdoors.
Along with popular educational field trips that provide curriculum-based activities for school classes in the spring and fall, officials say The Jungle Farm has summer programs for children during the school break in the summer. The ABC Program is geared to children ages 2-6 and their parents, and provides a one-hour educational outing for eight weeks. Also this year is a program for 6-12 year olds called ‘One Thousand Hours Outside’. This is The Jungle Farm’s attempt to counter the stats that show average children spend over 1,000 hours on their screens each year.
