Celebrating eight crazy years!

Troubled Monk Brewery hosts re-envisioned anniversary party on June 10

Red Deer’s Troubled Monk is celebrating their eight-year anniversary as a brewery in a unique way.

Located in the Capstone area (5551 45 St), the brewery is inviting the public to join their city-wide scavenger hunt to celebrate their anniversary and support two causes.

Hosted at the brewery on June 10 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., teams of two to five people can sign up for $200 per team and includes entry into the scavenger hunt, a free drink ticket, branded Troubled Monk merchandise and the opportunity to win prizes. The grand prize is a Troubled Tea Backyard Party prize pack with two kegs of Troubled Tea, a patio table, chairs and more, valued at over $1,200.

Troubled Monk officials say one of their core values is community; striving to elevate those around them and bring everyone up together.

They say this stemmed into the collaboration with the Red Deer Food Bank and the Mustard Seed lunch program to support their local community initiatives.

For the Mustard Seed’s Lunch program, ‘apples’ are already available for purchase at the Troubled Monk taproom for $5, which goes towards making one lunch, or $25 for a week’s worth of lunches. Guests can buy an apple, fill out their name, and decorate the walls and windows of the brewery with their support.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with the Red Deer Food Bank and the local Mustard Seed to support our community through a fun event,” said Charlie Bredo, President of Troubled Monk. “While we are doing things a little bit different this year with a team scavenger hunt, rather than a run, it is going to be a great party and we would love to see as many ‘monks’ as possible come out to support these worthy causes.”

The event is open to all, regardless of their entry into the scavenger hunt, with a donation to the Red Deer Food Bank.

The Troubled Monk parking lot is scheduled to be filled with food trucks, live music with Calgary’s Funk Groove Band Sweet Barry Wine and beer gardens with the opportunity to try the new Troubled Monk Bronze Pilsner. Officials say there will also be a silent auction with options from various community members and businesses, a 50/50 and activities for the kids.

Sign ups are still available at Eventbrite.
