May 27, 2023 | 2:48 PM

The Central Alberta Children’s Festival is back in the park in full swing this year. This family-friendly event is held over two days the first weekend of June. The festival is an opportunity for children and their families to get first-hand knowledge and exposure to the arts, to allow their creativity and imaginations to blossom.

Pack your picnic lunch, bring your snacks and water bottle and come join us June 2 nd and 3 rd at Rotary Recreation Park 4501 47A Ave, Red Deer. The park will come to life with music, dancing, children running and laughing enjoying tons of interactive fun!

The community planning committee has been busy putting together a great two days that will enchant and engage children of all ages. We have many new things this year and some of the favorites are back. With support from various community partners, the festival brings affordable, culturally diverse, and exciting entertainment through featured artists and interactive fun. We strive to allow families to actively engage in learning and playtime by fostering their imagination and creativity. From dancing, Pioneer Village, Ninja Obstacle course, Imaginate, bouncers, glitter tattoos and so much more. This children’s festival has it all.

Live shows include:

  • Sylvia Chave is Canada’s superstar to the sweet and sticky. Her onemom music show inspires littles and bigs to giggle and wiggle together. With her witty song hooks and wacky wardrobe changes, Sylvia can grab an audience’s attention like a new box of Girl Guide cookies. Her travelling “Transformation Station” is jam-packed with creative costumes that whisk both her and her audiences into a whimsical world of make-believe. Whether dressed as a fancy, flamenco-dancing fish or a boisterous, bearded pirate, Sylvia is sure to deliver grins. Sylvia has a knack for taking the familiar and giving it a zany twist, such as her song about a crocodile’s dental visit. On stage or on repeat in the minivan, Sylvia’s memorable melodies and laughable lyrics are hits with kids and adults alike.
  • James Jordan Vaudevillian This one-man vaudeville variety show with original magic, skilled juggling, royalty-free music and comedy has been headlining comedy clubs and children’s festivals all over the world! A clean polished and professional performance for every demographic.
