Nov 24, 2022 | 2:38 PM

There’s no coal in these gifts: they’re only for the good kids of Red Deer this Christmas.

The Rotary Club of Red Deer East has a brand new project this year selling “The Good Kid Santa Kit” to raise funds for the Red Deer Food Bank (10-7429 49 Ave).

All proceeds will specifically go towards the Rotary Club of Red Deer East Community Kitchen, located at the Food Bank, and used to provide catering and food preparation services and to offer educational opportunities for adults and youth.

The Santa Kits, made for children ages three to eight years old, contain:

  • A “Dear Santa” letterhead and North Pole envelope for kids to write their letter to Santa
  • Santa Beacon solar yard light
  • Glitter Reindeer food: oats and sprinkles for kids to put on their front lawns
  • Treats for Santa and the kids: Santa chocolate, candy cane, hot chocolate and cookies (shortbread, gingersnap or sugar)
  • Colouring pages with crayons
  • Surprise Christmas crafts

The kits are being sold for $25 each or $35 for two children and as a special add-on for just $10, a child can also receive a personalized phone call from Santa himself.

For those that would like to participate in spreading the cheer but may not have young children around, Santa Kits can be still be purchased for donation to be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House and the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre.

The sale of the Santa Kits will run until December 14 and can be ordered online.

Orders can be picked-up at a designated location in Red Deer or delivered for an extra $5.
