Trial scheduled for man charged in central Alberta shooting

Nov 22, 2022 | 1:59 PM

Trial dates have been set for a Maskwacis man accused of attempted murder.

Jesse Cabry, 30, is scheduled for trial in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench from January 16-19, 2024.

His trial dates were set following a preliminary hearing held in Wetaskiwin provincial court on Nov. 21, 2022, to determine if his case had enough evidence to go to trial.

Cabry is charged with attempted murder with a firearm and pointing a firearm in the March 2, 2022 incident.

That’s when Maskwacis RCMP responded at 2:30 a.m. to a shots fired complaint at the Samson Cree Nation town site.

Responding members located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. Mounties say the victim was rushed to hospital but was expected to recover from his injuries.

Police say the suspect was not located initially, but was eventually arrested without incident on March 9, 2022 at a home on Ermineskin Cree Nation.
