One in hospital after crash on QEII near Red Deer

A collision on the QEII Highway Friday night near Red Deer sent one person to hospital.

RCMP say it was about 11:30 p.m. when they first arrived on scene to the crash just north of the 32 Street overpass.

A vehicle heading northbound struck a 54-year-old woman purportedly walking on the highway.

The highway remained closed for some time while Blackfalds RCMP investigated.

The woman was taken to hospital and is currently in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, where they were checked out by emergency crews but was determined to be uninjured.

Police say alcohol was not a factor.

Crews cleared the scene at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
