Jul 7, 2022 | 9:10 AM

RCMP were on scene Thursday morning on the outskirts of Gasoline Alley, and just south of Red Deer, where a 45-year-old female cyclist was killed Wednesday night.

Blackfalds detachment says it was about 6:45 p.m. on July 6 when they allege the fatal hit and run occurred.

They say it happened on the 40 Avenue (RR 273) extension near McKenzie Road. The cyclist was declared deceased on scene.

RCMP are currently looking for this suspect vehicle and are requesting the public’s assistance. At this time the vehicle is being described as:

· A dark coloured sedan, potentially a BMW

· After market rims (described as cheap looking)

· Older model

· Dark grey or black matte; poor paint job

· Significant front end damage, specifically to the windshield

Police issued an update just before noon on Thursday saying they are now seeking a white coloured SUV that drove off the road to avoid a collision with the suspect vehicle near the scene.

Police issued a second update on Friday with a picture of the suspect vehicle, and are asking for dashcam footage.
