Red Deer will also lament its special teams results, going 0/7 on the power play, and Edmonton scoring once on five opportunities. Red Deer also gave up two shorthanded goals on the night, including one on a penalty shot.

Edmonton also outshot the visitors 42-26, including 15-5 in the final frame when they added three insurance goals.

The goaltending decision will also be an interesting one to watch for Red Deer come Game 3, after Chase Coward was pulled in both games of the series thus far. In Game 1, Coward lasted 40 minutes, then came out with just under five minutes to go in Game 2.

In the opening round versus Brandon, Coward started and played in every minute of every game, including 107 minutes in the Game 6 3OT decider, and a shutout in Game 1. Coward went 22-10-0-2 in the regular season, compared to Connor Ungar’s 21-9-1-0 stat-line.

Game 3 puck drop is set for Monday, May 9 at 7 p.m. with the broadcast live on 106.7 REWIND Radio starting at 6:30.
