Upgrades underway at Ponoka Aquaplex

The Ponoka Aquaplex will undergo routine maintenance and mechanical upgrades this week, including the installation of a new 10-foot slide in the deep tank.

To accommodate the planned improvements, Town officials say the Aquaplex will experience the following temporary closures:

• On Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. lap swim and water fitness will continue as regularly scheduled. After 10 a.m., the Aquaplex will be temporarily closed until end of day to complete maintenance and mechanical upgrades.
• On Wednesday, Jan. 12, all programming will continue as scheduled with the exception of the deep tank, which will be temporarily closed for the day for the installation of the new slide.

Town officials say the new 10-foot blue slide will feature one corkscrew turn with water flowing from the top of the slide into the deep tank. The slide will include stairs with railings on each side to ensure it’s accessible for everyone, including both children and adults.

“Once the work is completed, we expect that these improvements will increase people’s enjoyment and add a new level of excitement for Aquaplex users. The slide will offer new entertainment and fun for families in our community,” said Sandra Lund, Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Ponoka.
