City council approves new policy to help streamline grant distribution
Red Deer city council has approved a new policy aimed at setting a vision for a community grant program in Red Deer.
The new Community Development Grant Program is intended to establish principles and funding themes to allow council to streamline grant distribution to better serve the community’s needs in the future. Funding themes will include social development, sport and recreation, art and culture, economic development and environmental initiatives.
Business Excellence Manager Tricia Hercina says the City commonly grants funding for projects and programs which serve the community, and this expected to make it easier for them to do so.
“The Community Development Grant Program will offer a more simplified, but structured process both for applicants and for council in deliberating funding requests,” says Hercina, in a press release.
