Red Deer with 104 active COVID cases

Red Deer is down to 102 active cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, according to the latest numbers from the province. That’s down 12 from Monday’s total of 114 and the city’s lowest total since March 18.

Recoveries are up nine to 5,587 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose seven to 5,729.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 40.

The Central Zone as a whole has 332 active cases as of Tuesday and 26 hospitalizations, including five receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The Central Zone has had 163 deaths linked to COVID-19.

Across Alberta another 127 cases of COVID-19 were announced Tuesday out of 4,476 test results for a positivity rate of 2.8 per cent.

Active cases across the province are down to 2,804.

There are 271 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, up one, including 68 in intensive care, down five.

Four new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day bringing the province’s total to 2,274.

3,480,407 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta, with 69.4 percent of the province’s eligible 12+ population having received at least one dose and 22 percent fully vaccinated with two doses.

In Red Deer, 56,653 people have received at least one dose with 22,584 now fully vaccinated.
