Man charged for assaults at anti-racism rally pleads not guilty

May 26, 2021 | 10:48 AM

A Penhold man facing charges after altercations broke out at an anti-racism rally last fall in Red Deer has pleaded not guilty.

Trevor Lyle Roy, 42, entered his pleas on Tuesday and is due back in court June 15 when a date for trial is expected to be set.

Red Deer RCMP said their investigation into what happened at the Sept. 20, 2020 anti-racism event at Rotary Recreation Park revealed three separate assaults took place.

Roy faces two counts of assault, one for an incident prior to the start of the rally and the other for a second incident while the event was underway.
