TELUS Agriculture named Olds College Partner of the Year

Mar 31, 2021 | 3:20 PM

TELUS Agriculture has been announced as the Olds College 2021 Partner of the Year.

In 2020, Olds College and TELUS Agriculture created a million dollar partnership in support of the Olds College Smart Farm and the development, acceleration and integration of technology into the global agri-food value chain. On the Olds College Smart Farm, TELUS Agriculture has been testing innovations like security solutions, weather stations, field sensors, and rural connectivity solutions. In the near future, the Smart Farm will provide live testing for TELUS’ 5G network, which has the potential to enable faster, more reliable connections.

“Olds College and TELUS Agriculture share tremendous alignment in our values and our desire to optimize the food production value chain through the flow and utilization of data. We are both purpose-driven organizations working together to advance the agriculture sector,” said Stuart Cullum, President, Olds College.

“In partnering with Olds College, we saw an opportunity to help facilitate our shared vision and invest in the future of our agriculture industry in Canada and our global food system,” said Chris Terris, VP, Global Strategy & President, TELUS Agriculture – Canada.

“The Smart Farm is a truly cutting-edge learning environment where students, producers and the agriculture sector can collaborate and innovate together to test new technology in a real-life agriculture setting and continually explore the application of emerging technologies like 5G to address some of the challenges facing agriculture. TELUS Agriculture is proud to partner with Olds College and support their incredible efforts to further develop and integrate technology within agriculture to protect and improve the food system – today and in the future.”

The Partner of the Year award will be presented at A Celebration of Alberta Ag, a free two-hour live streamed event hosted by Olds College on Friday, April 9, 2021.
