Red Deer with 124 active COVID-19 cases

Red Deer’s active COVID-19 case count as of Monday sits at 124, an increase of one.

There have been 2,816 recovered cases, an increase of five as the total number of cases attributed to the city rose by six on Monday to 2,973.

The number of deaths in Red Deer attributed to COVID-19 remains 33.

Province-wide, Alberta confirmed 456 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday.

That’s out of 7,547 test results over the past 24 hours for a positivity rate of 6.0 per cent.

The number of active cases in the province is up 205 to 6,176.

There are 280 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, down three from Sunday, including 48 in intensive care, up one.

Five additional COVID-19 deaths were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours to bring the province’s total as of Sunday to 1,968. The deaths occurred between March 20-21 in the Calgary, Edmonton, North and South zones.

As of Monday, there have been 1,711 total variant cases of COVID-19 in the province, an increase of 110. Of these cases 1,691 are the U.K. variant. There are 283 variant cases in the Central Zone.

The province’s COVID-19 reproduction number (R value) for the past week was 1.14.

The Central Zone has 585 active cases as of Monday and 35 hospitalizations, including six receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The zone has had 120 deaths attributed to COVID-19.
