Red Deer’s active COVID cases drop modestly to 535

Overall, Alberta confirmed 415 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday.

That’s out of 7,761 test results over the past 24 hours for a positivity rate of about 5.3 per cent.

The number of active cases in the province is 4,546, an increase of 41 from Friday. Recoveries are up 368 to a total of 126,774.

There are now 262 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, down seven from Friday, including 51 in intensive care, down four over the past 24 hours.

Six additional COVID-19 deaths were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours to bring the province’s total to 1,883.

As of Saturday, there have been 401 total variant cases of COVID-19 in the province, an increase of 30 over the past day, including 393 cases of the UK variant.

Alberta has administered 218,696 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of Feb. 26.

City of Lacombe: 15 (-6)

Kneehill County: 6 (–)

County of Stettler: 1 (-1)

The Central Zone has 702 active cases as of Saturday, a decrease of 30, with 34 hospitalizations, up two. Eleven people are receiving intensive care for COVID-19 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, up one. The zone has had 111 COVID-related deaths, three of which were reported in the past 24 hours. Details as to their exact locations, however, were unavailable on Saturday.
