“complex and lengthy” police investigation

Sylvan Lake man accused of bilking investors of over $100,000

Sylvan Lake RCMP say a local man has been charged criminally with fraud against five different victims, totalling over $100,000.

In June 2019, Mounties received a complaint from a person claiming to be the victim of fraud involving two companies he had invested in dating back to June 2018. RCMP then launched an investigation into the two companies owned by Brad Boksteyn.

Subsequent to the first complaint, RCMP say four other victims reported that they also had invested money with the accused, with the intention of developing safety products.

The RCMP says their investigation was “complex and lengthy” with the Red Deer RCMP Financial Crimes Unit and General Investigation Section both providing expertise.
