Nov 9, 2020 | 9:05 PM

One of two people charged in a significant drug, weapons and stolen property bust in southeast Red Deer last year where police laid 141 charges has been handed a global sentence of 30 months behind bars.

However, after given credit for 11 months and 14 days of pre-trial custody, Savannah Korth of Red Deer, will serve the next 19 months in jail.

The 23-year-old was initially charged with 64 counts but was sentenced on just eight after 56 were withdrawn.

Korth was convicted on charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and failing to stop after an accident.

The incidents began last November following reports of a stolen wallet in Red Deer and a related fraudulent vehicle purchase in Edmonton. Red Deer RCMP and Edmonton Police Service conducted a joint investigation and arrested a female suspect found to be living in Red Deer.

On Nov. 13, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Inglewood where a male was found hiding in the residence. RCMP K Division Emergency Response Team assisted in his arrest.

Items seized included 11 firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, drugs and paraphernalia, a stolen laptop, a vehicle that was fraudulently purchased, and stolen identification.

While executing the warrant, Mounties say the female suspect was involved in a nearby collision with a stolen vehicle. Items seized from the vehicle include two rifles, stolen police equipment, two-way radios, and stolen Alberta licence plates.

Connor Mueller, 24, of Red Deer, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Oct. 22. There is no update yet as to his next court appearance.
