Red Deer sees big drop in building permit values in 2019

More numbers are in that show Red Deer slugged through another tough economic year in 2019.

Year-end stats released Monday by The City of Red Deer show $118.9 million in building permits were issued last year, a nearly 50% drop from the $233.8 in permits issued in 2018.

That’s despite the overall of number building permits rising slightly from 1068 to 1074.

Building permit values last month totaled $4.2 million, compared to $11.4 in December 2018.

Notable permits for last month include construction of a new commercial building and asphalt work at 66 Street and 68 Avenue, valued at $900,000 and an interior renovation at First Alberta Place (4911 51 Street), worth nearly $600,000.
