Public tips lead to arrest

PENHOLD- On October the 8 at 9:43 a.m., Innisfail RCMP received a report of a shed being broken into at the Innisfail Public Library and some items were taken.

Later that day someone staying at the Days Inn reported that his vehicle had been broken into and a work computer and some other items were stolen.

On October 12 at 10:30 p.m., Innisfail RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious person in Penhold.

Mounties arrived on scene and observed a suspect that matched the description that had been provided to police by the complainant.

He was seen rummaging through a vehicle in a parking lot.

RCMP discovered he did not own the vehicle and was arrested.

Upon further investigation, items were located that are believed to be related to the previously reported theft from the library and the Days Inn in Innisfail.

Joshua Darryl Pepin, 30, of no fixed address has been charged with:

– Mischief
– Possession of property obtained by crime x6
– Possession of a controlled substance
– Driving an uninsured motor vehicle

Pepin is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Tuesday November 26.
