Red Deer baseball athlete in pursuit of Olympic dreams
A young athlete from Red Deer is among the top 100 in the country named to the first-ever RBC Training Ground National Final to be hosted in Calgary this month.
Adam Turgeon, 16, was nominated to the final by Rugby Canada after officials with the organization saw his athletic abilities first-hand during an RBC test event held in Red Deer on March 24 of this year.
The Grade 11 St. Joseph High School student admits, though, he mostly plays baseball and attends the Ball Academy at St. Joe’s.
“It’s really cool to be a part of a first year of the academy,” he exclaims. “It really helped me improve, even if it was the first year and they didn’t really have everything going yet. I think it’s just going to keep getting better from here.”
