Mounties investigate possible drowning in Clearwater River

RCMP in Rocky Mountain House are investigating a possible drowning in the Clearwater River over the long weekend.

Witnesses called police at about 10:30 Sunday night after spotting a man wearing a lifejacket floating in the turbulent river. They were unable to make contact with him.

Mounties say the male was last seen in the water approximately 28 miles west of the Clearwater Bridge near Highway 22 and Highway 591.

Police located a vehicle and boat trailer near the area and have not been able to contact the 34-year-old male registered owner from Calgary, who is believed to be the same male who was observed in the water.
