Five arrested on 73 charges after RCMP recover stolen vehicles and license plates
A four-day stolen vehicle operation by Red Deer RCMP at the end of August resulted in the arrest of five people on 73 charges, and the recovery of nine stolen vehicles and 13 stolen license plates.
City Mounties say the operation from August 28 – 31 involved officers from the Crime Reduction Team (CRT), General Investigative Services (GIS), Traffic, general duty, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PSD).
“These operations focusing on stolen vehicles and the repeat offenders who traffic in them are key to the Red Deer RCMP’s Pinpoint crime reduction strategy,” Red Deer RCMP Corporal Karyn Kay says in a release. “With every arrest RCMP make thanks to these vehicle operations, warrant round-ups, downtown foot patrols, conditions checks on known criminals and our constant patrols of crime hot spots, we’re sending an ongoing message to these offenders.”
