CALGARY- The Salvation Army says it’s fired two guards and the manager of protective services at its homeless shelter in Calgary for using excessive force to remove clients.
Two other employees have been suspended and given verbal warnings following separate incidents on April 6 and 8 of this year at the Calgary Centre of Hope.
The Salvation Army says in one case, a guard used unapproved restraints while removing a person.
The organization says in an email that all centre employees will be retrained on crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
