Anders named WHL Goaltender of the Week
The Western Hockey League announced today that Red Deer Rebels goaltender Ethan Anders is the Eli Wilson Goaltending WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 4.
A prospect rated for the 2019 National Hockey League Draft, Anders recorded a 34-save shutout in his lone appearance of the week, a 1-0 win over the Calgary Hitmen at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday.
Anders is an 18-year-old product of Pilot Butte, Sask. In 14 games this season, Anders has maintained a 10-3-1-0 record, 2.85 GAA, 0.922 SV% and one shutout. The 6-foot-1, 171-pound goaltender ranks third in the league in victories and sixth in SV%. Anders also currently sits in a 11-way tie for second place in shutouts.
Overall, Anders has appeared in 56 WHL regular season games, sporting a 20-22-7-1 record, 3.03 GAA, 0.910 SV%, and two shutouts. Last season, Anders was named the WHL Rookie of the Month for January 2018.
