WEEKEND SPLIT

The Red Deer Rebels have hit their first rough patch of the season, having dropped their last three games, including two at home over the weekend.

Friday, October 23 – The visiting Penticton Vees built up a 3-0 lead on their way to a 4-2 win over the Rebels at the Marchant Crane Centrium. Poul Andersen scored both Rebels goals just 36 seconds apart late in period two. Red Deer outshot Penticton 33-27 and were 0-for-4 on power plays while the Vees were 0-for-3.

Saturday, October 24 – The Rebels earned a point but suffered their first overtime loss of the season, 4-3 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Marchant Crane Centrium. Rookie Jake Banicevic scored twice while Grayden Peterson stayed hot with his fifth goal of the season. Lethbridge outshot the Rebels 38-25 and went 2-for-6 on power plays while the Rebels were 0-for-2.

The Rebels sit tied with the Calgary Hitmen for first place in what is shaping up to be an ultra-competitive Central Division. Red Deer also enters the week sitting fourth overall in the WHL Eastern Conference.

WORTH THE WAIT

It was a long time coming for Grayden Peterson, but the second-year Rebels forward has become the hottest scorer on the team! After scoring his first career goal in his 48th game earlier this month, the West Fargo, North Dakota native has added four more and finds himself on a four-game point streak. Peterson and Jake Banicevic are tied for third on the Rebels with five goals apiece, trailing Beckett Hamilton with nine and Poul Andersen with his team leading 11 tallies.
