Outkasts Car Club invites public to Toy Run and Car Show this Saturday

The Outkasts Car Club invites the public to its 11th annual Toy Run and Car Show this weekend.

This Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at Parkland Mall by Walmart, the public is asked to bring a toy or make a donation to support the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.

Those who do so will receive a free hot dog or hamburger.

Tom Reed, who’s a member of the Car Club, said that every year since 2015 they’ve held the event with 100 per cent of the proceeds given to the Christmas Bureau.

“Every year we’ve increased our values. I think last year we gave close to $6,000 and 700 or 800 toys,” he said. “It’s a pretty great cause… A few years ago we had a guy go into Walmart and come out with four pedal bikes.”

He added that if you’re going to donate a toy, they prefer it to be new and unwrapped. When making a monetary donation, they also prefer cash donations as well as gift cards for the older children.

If the weather is good, there will also be over 50 vintage and antique vehicles for those in attendance to explore.

“We have a huge car community in Red Deer, and we have people from all over that show up for the show and donate,” Reed said.

“Every year it seems to get bigger and better, with more donations and people showing up… Last year was our biggest year. Come out and support the community. Everyone deserves a Christmas morning, so the more we can raise, the more it helps out.”
