Penhold’s new dog park is now open

The community of Penhold is celebrating the near completion of the first phase of its new dog park.

The open park will eventually be 9.2 acres and is an initiative of the Penhold Community Leaders Society (PCLS).

The PCLS notes that progress has been made possible thanks to support from local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and other community members.

Phase one is located east of the new Public Services Building on Waskasoo Avenue, and is more than two acres.

More than 70 trees have been planted, and a walking trail should be finished this fall.

“The support we have received has been incredible,” said PCLS Chairperson Tyrone Muller.

“Every donation, sponsorship, and volunteer hour has helped move this project forward. This dog park is being built by the community, for the community, and we are grateful to everyone who has played a part.”

Fundraising is underway for phase two, which will include benches, picnic tables, garbage and pet waste receptacles, and portable washrooms.

The Society’s next fundraiser will be a Charity Poker Fundraiser Event in early 2027, with proceeds supporting the continued development of the dog park. Additional sponsors and donors are also welcome as work continues toward a planned grand opening event in spring 2027.
