Rebels sign American forward Soren Saumweber

The Red Deer Rebels have signed forward Soren Saumweber to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

From Roseville, Minnesota, Saumweber was selected by Red Deer in the sixth round, 122nd overall, at the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.

“We are really excited to get Soren signed as he is a big part of our future,” said Chase Fuchs, Rebels Director of U.S. Scouting. “He is a highly competitive player who plays a 200-foot game and can be counted on in so many different situations. His development from first viewing in his draft year until now has been excellent, and we can’t wait for it to continue.”

Last year, the 15-year-old, who shoots left, played for Cretin-Derham Hall High School, where he notched 13 goals and nine assists for 22 points in 26 games.
