Red Deer man wins over $884K on lottery ticket

A Red Deer man is now $884,629.60 richer after winning the Lightning Lotto draw back in April.

Boro G., who bought his ticket from Stettler Gas Bar, won the prize by matching all five numbers in the selection for the April 15 draw, according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

He was shocked to see that he had won and to see the winning amount pop up on the screen.

“I drop off newspapers for an older gentleman at his home every day, and I stop in Stettler to pick up the newspaper and a lottery ticket,” he said in a media release. “It’s part of the route I drive daily for work as a courier, and I’ve been doing it for 30 years. This time, I saw the win, and I thought, ‘Wow, I hit it. I told my wife and kids that evening when they all arrived at home.”
