Town of Olds invites citizens to provide feedback in 2027 budget survey

The Town of Olds are inviting residents to provide input on what they think should be included in the 2027 budget.

They launched the 2027 budget survey, now live on their website, to provide citizens and businesses with a platform to share what matters most to them and help council understand the communities’ priorities.

The survey will remain open until August 5.

“Building a budget means making choices about priorities and balancing the needs of today with the future stability of the community,” said Alvin Allim, Director of Corporate Services, in a media release. “The survey helps us understand what residents value most and, together with the 2026 Financial Report, provides important context for the decisions council will make this fall.”

The town says around 300 residents provided feedback in last year’s survey. Some of the priorities identified included infrastructure investment, snow clearing, public safety, improvements to the Olds Sportsplex, improvements to Centennial Park and municipal communications.

“Council makes decisions that affect the services, programs, and infrastructure our community relies on every day, and it’s important that we hear directly from residents before making those choices,” said Mayor Dan Daley. “The budget survey gives people an opportunity to share what’s most important to them and helps Council better understand the priorities of our community.”

Feedback collected through the survey will help inform the council’s budget discussions this fall, followed by a draft budget expected to be presented later this year.

Final budget approval will then be given in December.
