Week of Red Deer Pride events kicks off July 4
Pride events are set to get going this weekend around Red Deer.
Traditionally, Pride Month takes place around the world in June. However, in Alberta, groups have staggered their events throughout the summer so that they don’t take attendees away from one another.
Kaelyn Yeager is the coordinator for Red Deer Pride 2026, one of a few local events replacing the work of the now-defunct Central Alberta Pride Society (CAPS).
“Pride is so important every year, but this year especially – in this political climate, it is imperative that our community knows there are still people who support us – that there are spaces where the 2SLGBTQIA+ community is still safe to be themselves, to feel valued and seen, and to experience joy,” says Yeager.
