Blackfalds council sets 2026-2030 strategic plan

Blackfalds town council has set out its new strategic plan for 2026-2030.

The plan was finalized after collaboration with town administration and an organization called CivicExcellence.

Through workshops and engagement sessions, council identified four key priority areas:

  1. Economic Vitality and Community Prosperity
  2. Community Life, Safety, and Inclusion
  3. Leadership, Engagement, and Advocacy
  4.  Sustainable Services and Infrastructure

Administration then prepared an operational plan designed around the goals of business attraction and retention, community safety, housing, communication, and public engagement strategies.

Chief Administrative Officer Kim Isaak said the process sets a strong foundation for the term ahead.

“Council and administration really came together as a team to discuss the most important changes that can be made to better the community,” she said.

“With feedback from council’s election campaigning, budget surveys, and suggestions we hear from residents throughout the year, I believe our four priorities give us a strong plan for the upcoming years.”

The plan will also guide municipal resource allocation and performance reporting.

“This plan gives us clear direction; it enforces our role as council and helps bring consistency to the decisions we’ll be making over the next four years,” shared Mayor Laura Svab during the April 28 council meeting.

“This plan reflects a shared commitment to focused, accountable leadership and gives clarity to both administration and our community about our priorities that will be moving forward. I look forward to using this plan to guide our work together.”
