Red Deer city council ratifies new collective agreement with IAFF Local 1190

The City of Red Deer announced that a new agreement with the International Association of Firefighters Local 1190 was ratified by city council on Tuesday.

The new agreement is effective as of Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2025, with a wage increase up to 12.1 per cent. This includes annual wage increases of 4.50 per cent in 2023, 4.10 per cent in 2024, and 3.50 per cent in 2025. The new agreement will apply retroactively to Jan. 1, 2023.

The city says the next round of negotiations will start in the Fall of 2026.

“We are thankful for the work done by both bargaining teams to achieve this agreement. It reflects our shared commitment to maintaining strong relationships with IAFF Local 1190, while ensuring stability for our employees and sustainability for our services,” said Priya Kingsley, Human Resources Manager for The City of Red Deer.
