Government says economics not a reason why union ordered back

Alberta’s 9-thousand unionized provincial employees are going back to the office full time in a few days.

But their return is coming with a planned silent protest.

Bobby-Joe Borodey, with the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees, says workers will be placing brown lunch bags on their desks with notes stating; “Hybrid work tastes better.”

Borodey says it symbolizes pushback on the provincial government ending its hybrid work policy in what she calls a decision tied to revitalizing the economy near government offices.
