Fire advisory in effect for Lacombe County

Sep 4, 2025 | 5:10 PM

Lacombe County has issued a fire advisory, effective Thursday.

The county says it’s now in place because of the warm temperatures, windy conditions, and a lack of anticipated precipitation.

For now, the county will continue to issue fire permits for minor burns but permits for more large-scale burns will not be issued until conditions improve. Minor burns are less than 500 sq. ft. or approximately 50 m2.

Officials say a fire advisory signals an increased fire danger rating. However, safe campfires are still permitted in the area.

In addition, minor burns, as per conditions of the fire permit, recreation fires, portable propane fire pits, gas or propane stoves and barbecues, and catalytic or infrared-style heaters are also still allowed.

Meantime, recreation fires must be contained within a metal, brick, or rock fire ring and comply with Lacombe County’s fire bylaw.

This fire advisory may be upgraded to a fire restriction or fire ban at any time and will remain in place until conditions improve.
