Red Deer RCMP invites residents and businesses to register surveillance cameras with CAPTURE
Red Deer RCMP is calling on local businesses and residents to register their surveillance cameras with CAPTURE (Community Assisted Policing Through the Use of Recorded Evidence).
CAPTURE has been in Red Deer since 2019 and is a secure registry that records the location of surveillance cameras owned by residents and businesses to help in police investigations.
Police say those with surveillance systems who are willing to share the footage when requested by police are encouraged to register.
The system allows registered participants to upload video footage for investigators to review. This allows officers to decide whether the footage is helpful before requesting a copy.
