Applications open for Equine Emergency Disaster Fund

Aug 15, 2024 | 3:08 PM

The Alberta Equestrian Federation is now accepting applications for expense relief through its Equine Emergency Disaster Fund.

The fund is designed to ensure the well-being of equines residing in Alberta during significant disasters such as floods, wildfires, pandemics, or any other situation prompting a state of emergency or evacuation.

Eligible expenses for the relief funding include temporary boarding fees, hay, water, and medical expenses directly related to the disaster.

Applications have a firm deadline of September 30.

The Alberta Equestrian Federation notes:

  • Only one application per premise or location of equine(s) will be accepted per intake period.
  • Applications must be accurate and complete including all required receipts, a letter of request, and appropriate signatures.
  • Funds will be disbursed at the discretion of the Equine Emergency Disaster Fund task force committee.

The Federation also stresses that funding availability is limited and it may not be able to fully support all requests.

Applications can be found here.
