Innisfail invites residents to three sessions on public art

Jun 7, 2024 | 11:48 AM

A community conversation on public art is happening later this month in Innisfail.

The series of in-person sessions take place June, 17, 18 and 19.

“We’re reaching out to the public to review the status of public art in the community, but we’re also looking for seed ideas for the development of a framework for public art,” says Meghan Jenkins, the Town’s director of community services.

“We want the framework to be reflective of the community’s values and aspirations.”

Sessions will begin with an introduction to the history and significance of public art in Innisfail, highlighting key milestones and current public art installations, the Town notes in a release.

Participants will then engage in small group discussions to explore ideas, share experiences, and identify the community’s needs and priorities for public art.

Community members interested in participating are encouraged to email ask@innisfail.ca and register for one of the sessions, which are scheduled as follows:

June 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

June 18, 12-2 p.m.

June 19 (by request), 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

All sessions will be held at the Library Learning Centre Community Room in Innisfail.
