130 Years of Community Support

Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce unveils new brand, marking 130 years of unwavering support

Mar 19, 2024 | 2:48 PM

The Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new brand and logo during its 130th anniversary celebration Monday night.

Hundreds attended the event held March 18, 2024, at the Harvest Centre in Westerner Park which also featured live entertainment.

Chamber officials say the refreshed identity, inspired by the spirit of resilience and collaboration, reflects a bold shift from red to a dynamic, orange-toned palette.

At the heart of the new brand is the fusion of the letters ‘R’ and ‘C,’ crafted to embody the spirit of a deer, symbolizing agility, strength, and progress. Officials say this innovative design underscores the Chamber’s unwavering belief in the power of collaboration, courage, and resolve to turn dreams into reality.

For over a century, Chamber officials say the organization has dedicated itself to empowering the local business community through unwavering support and advocacy. The brand essence, “Charge Ahead,” is said to encapsulate the organization’s commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.

CEO Scott Robinson expressed his excitement about the brand transformation, stating, “As we celebrate 130 years, this new brand is a powerful symbol of our commitment to growth and development. It signifies our collective belief that, with the right team and determination, anything is possible. We are thrilled to charge ahead into the future, continuing to empower and advocate for the success of our local businesses and entrepreneurs.”

Robinson says it’s very special to unveil the new brand during such a milestone occasion.

“When you think about the history of the organization and how it really goes back to the formation of the Red Deer region, its not very often you get a chance to be a part of something with such a great legacy, so from that perspective, we’re really proud and we’re obviously really excited about sharing it with the community,” he exclaims.

Despite all that history though, Robinson notes that in some ways, the role of the Chamber in our community really hasn’t changed.

“The Chamber has always been a solid organization in the community that is there to help the community with various challenges that it has, or various issues or opportunities” he explains. “It takes part in those and either leads them or supports them or helps other people lead them and I think when you look back at the history in the early years especially, some of the things that were of great difficulty like transportation and moving goods and services and things like that, it really hasn’t changed today. It’s still about that.”

“Businesses join the Chamber primarily to elevate their presence in the community and be a part of a network of other businesses,” adds Robinson. “And they also join the Chamber to help market their business to other businesses or other consumers, so we try to play a role whether it be through events or marketing initiatives to elevate that for them.”

Moving forward, Robinson says the Chamber is poised to do some pretty big things in the community.

“I think everybody knows the Homelessness Taskforce work that we’ve been doing. We’ll present our recommendations on April 2 on that,” explains Robinson. “That’s a good example of some of the non-traditional roles that we can play and kind of taking a really challenging issue in the community and kind of shedding some new light on it, and as hard as it is and as great as the work that’s being done by the community on that, we’re looking forward to sharing what we believe might be some opportunities to try to move that forward and create some more housing for the community.”
