Red Deer RCMP to host ‘Shred It’ event March 27

Mar 16, 2024 | 10:36 AM

Did you know that March is Fraud Prevention Month?

On March 27, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Red Deer RCMP Youth and Community Action Team (YCAT) will be on location at Carnival Cinemas for their annual ‘Shred It’ event.

To help combat the issue of identify fraud, Red Deer RCMP are hosting a ‘Shred It’ event, which is a safe and convenient way to securely dispose of your documents. By not shredding important documents before you throw them out, identity thieves can use those details to sign up for things like credit cards or passports under stolen persona.

Merlin Shredding will be at the event to assist with the shredding. There is a limit of three boxes or bags per vehicle.

Cash donations will also be accepted, with the proceeds going to the African Caribbean Centre of Central Alberta.

Red Deer RCMP are committed to keeping our community safe. If you have information regarding fraud or any other suspicious or illegal activity within the city of Red Deer please contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2200.
