Third annual Comedy Night in Red Deer for youth hockey
It’s the third annual Comedy Night in Red Deer this month, raising funds for two positive causes.
On February 24, comedian Kelly Taylor will be presenting at Bo’s Bar and Stage (2310 50 Ave.), with all proceeds going to the Piper Creek Optimist Club and the Hockey Alberta Foundation.
Based in Saskatoon, Taylor has been known to make his mark in the comedy industry in his three short years. Placing second in the Just for Laughs Homegrown competition, he was also named Canadian College Comedian of the Year and approached by famous industry leaders including Universal, Happy Gilmore Productions and Jimmy Kimmel. He has starred in movies and toured in various comedy festivals across North America.
According to Darcy Smith, Manager for the Hockey Alberta Foundation & Recruitment, the funds they receive will go to the Every Kid Every Community Grant Program, enabling the organization to grow opportunities for youth to experience hockey in central Alberta and across the province. The grant supports various programs including Female Hockey, Future Leaders Development Program, Scholarships, School Programs, equipment bank support, Equity Diversity & Inclusion and Growing the Game initiatives.
