New record high unofficially set for Red Deer October 9

Some unofficial temperature records were set throughout the province on Thanksgiving Monday, including in the city of Red Deer.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the Red Deer area set a new record high of 26.8 degrees Celsius for October 9, edging out the old record of 26.7 degrees Celsius set in 1934. Records in this area have been kept since 1904.

The Breton area set a new record high of 26.0 degrees Celsius for October 9, surpassing the previous record of 24.4 degrees Celsius set in 1974. Records in this area have been kept since 1939.

The Three Hills area set a new record high for October 9, hitting 27.7 degrees Celsius and beating the old record of 26.7 degrees Celsius set in 1934. Records in this area have been kept since 1921.
