Seven-year prison sentence for man convicted in fatal central Alberta shooting
A seven-year prison sentence has been handed down to a central Alberta man charged in a fatal shooting on the Sunchild First Nation nearly three years ago.
Keean Frencheater, 26, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of Justice on Oct. 2, 2023, after being convicted on one count of manslaughter/use of firearm.
He had a global sentence imposed of 2,555 days imprisonment, less 1,030 days pre-trial custody, with enhanced time credit at a 1.5 times basis, equaling 1,545 days.
Frencheater, however, is to serve a total of 1,010 days imprisonment commencing Oct. 3, 2023 (2 years, 9 months). He was also given a firearms prohibition.
