One dead after train and vehicle collide in Leduc County near Edmonton: RCMP

LEDUC, Alta. – RCMP are now clear from the scene of a fatal collision involving a train near Edmonton Thursday morning.

According to Leduc RCMP, normal traffic flow has now resumed on Highway 21.

On Aug. 3, 2023, at 1:11 a.m., Leduc RCMP received a report of a collision with a train. Upon arrival, RCMP located a vehicle and a deceased person near the tracks on Hwy 21 and Looma Road.

RCMP say they alerted CN and the involved train was quickly identified and stopped. RCMP believe at this time that the vehicle ran into the side of the moving train.

Mounties say the deceased will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner where the deceased’s identify will be confirmed.
