Better serving the community

Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre seeks public feedback in online survey

Jun 1, 2023 | 4:54 PM

The Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Centre (CAPCC) is seeking public feedback from residents in the region on how they can better serve the community.

Officials with the organization say they want to hear how they can make their services more accessible and effective.

Through an anonymous online survey, central Albertans can help the Care Centre understand where they are succeeding and where they need to improve.

“Your responses will further our mission of providing compassion, support and education to all those who use our services. Our commitment to offering quality care is only possible with the input of you, our valued community members,” said the organization in a release.

The CAPCC aims to provide compassionate support and education to individuals and families impacted by unexpected pregnancy and its effects. All programs and services are free, confidential, and offered in a safe and non-judgmental environment regardless of age, gender, race, or religion. Women, men, and families are able to access a variety of support services within the Red Deer, Olds, Rocky Mountain House, and Stettler communities such as, pregnancy tests, pregnancy options counselling, male mentorship, baby and maternity clothing, post-abortion support, Steps to Sexual Health program, parenting support, and community resources.

The Red Deer location also provides maternity housing for pregnant mothers and mothers and babies. The Aerie is a two-phase maternity home program for pregnant teens and young women, aiming to offer a nurturing home, support healthy pregnancy and positive parenting. Staffed 24/7, it has the capacity for up to 11 women and their infants. Residents who meet the eligibility criteria enter phase one of the program during their pregnancy and move into phase two when their infant is approximately six months of age. Phase two residents who continue to meet program outcomes are invited to stay until their child is approximately two years of age. Clients are guided to continue pursuing education and employment goals while strengthening their parenting and life skills.
