Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools appoints new secretary treasurer

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) has announced the appointment of Laurel Latka as their new secretary treasurer, effective August 2023.

RDCRS officials say Latka brings extensive financial education experience, having previously worked for the Black Gold School Division from 1995 – 2021, where she served as the finance manager and then as the director of finance. Prior to her appointment, they say she served as the manager of corporate accounts payable for The City of Edmonton.

The Division says that as a financial steward who is best known for her innovative approach, Latka has experienced success in her previous roles through the implementation of several key initiatives she introduced to improve workflow efficiencies and financial processes. They say she hopes to bring the same forward-thinking leadership to her new role at RDCRS.

“On behalf of our Division, I want to welcome Laurel to RDCRS and say how excited we are to have someone with this depth of experience helping guide our Division budget and financial operations,” said RDCRS Superintendent Dr. Kathleen Finnigan.
